iStorage, leading specialist in portable storage and digital encryption, has today announced that its innovative and award winning portable storage device diskGenie has become the first USB hard drive product to be awarded a CESG Claims Tested Mark (CCTM) certificate operating at levels below Restricted for Information Assurance.
diskGenie guarantees the integrity and confidentiality of all data stored through ATM style PIN code access and 128 or 256-bit AES hardware encryption*. This ensures information is completely secureeven if the drive is removed from its enclosure. Its conveniently integrated USB 2.0 cable the need to carry around leads, making it ideal for carrying data away from home or the office and gives users complete peace of mind.
A CCTM certificate for Information Assurance (IA) means that UK public sector organisations, including Central Government, local authorities, NHS, education, criminal justice, police and MoD, can recognise a product that has had independent testing under CESG authority. It also features as a recommended certification in the CESG Good Practice Guidelines and the HMG IA Standards.
Peter Hayes, Head of the CCTM Secretariat, commented, "Part of the CCTM principle is to support enterprising new companies working on information assurance for the benefit of the UK public sector. iStorage's diskGenie is a great example of this and isalready in use across local government. Furthermore, many private sector suppliers are also adopting CCTM certificated products in their solutions for their own customers and diskGenie is well positioned to reach this sector."
John Michael, Managing Director of iStorage said, "To be the first hard drive to be awarded a CCTM certificate is a fantastic accolade for diskGenie. The CESG kite mark is a stamp of recognition for buyers of security products as it is only given to devices that pass an accredited and independent testing method. This certificate will help us reach more decision makers in industry, as well as home and small office users, with the message that diskGenie is a unique and affordable solution to secure access to company or personal data."

About CCTM
The CESG Claims Tested Mark (CCTM) scheme provides a government quality mark for the public and private sectors based on accredited independent testing, designed to prove the validity of security functionality claims made by vendors. The CCTM scheme verifies the claims security vendors make for their solutions for data confidentiality, integrity and availability in the modern government IT environment. In more colloquial terms, the CCTM is designed to assure public bodies that a product or service does 'what it says on the box'. It is operated by CESG, the Information Assurance arm of GCHQ, based in Cheltenham UK. Full details of the CCTM scheme can be found at: www.cctmark.gov.uk.
